8 judges elevated as chief judges of high courts, according to the Ministry of Justice

Eight judges were promoted to chief justices of various high courts on Saturday.

Five chief justices were also transferred to various high courts, the justice ministry said.

Judge Rajesh Bindal, Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Calcutta, has been elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the High Court of Allahabad. Meghalaya Judge Ranjit V More was appointed chief justice of the same high court, according to a list released by the Justice Department of the Ministry of Justice.

The Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka, Judge Satish Chandra Sharma has been elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the High Court of Telangana.

Madhya Pradesh High Court Judge Prakash Shrivastava has been appointed Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.

The Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh Judge RV Malimath will now be the Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.

Judge Ritu Raj Awasthi of the Allahabad High Court will head the Karnataka High Court. Likewise, Judge Arvind Kumar of the High Court of Karnataka was elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat.

Judge Prashant Kumar Mishra of the High Court of Chhattisgarh has been appointed Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.

In addition, Judge AA Kureshi, Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, has been transferred as Chief Justice of the High Court of Rajasthan.

Judge Indrajit Mahanty, head of the High Court of Rajasthan, has been appointed Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura.

Judge Mohammed Rafiq, Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, has been sent to the High Court of Himachal Pradesh as the new Chief Justice.

Judge Biswanath Somadder, Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, has been appointed Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim.

Judge AK Goswami, Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, has been appointed Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.
