On Wednesday, the Ministry of Law and Justice organized the first ever Women Lawyers Awards to highlight and recognize the achievements of women in the legal profession in Islamabad.
The awards were organized in partnership with Group Development Pakistan, Women in Law Initiative Pakistan, the Australian High Commission and the British High Commission.
The event kicked off with a symposium on diversity and inclusion followed by the launch of the Pakistan Journal of Diversity and Inclusion.
The ministry had called on all female and male champions associated with the legal profession to come forward and support the awards as a means of recognizing the achievements of women in the legal profession.
According to her statement, “the awards will recognize contributions from entities such as bar associations, law firms, law schools, legal departments, etc. and male champions committed to gender equality and gender equality. the diversity”.
Asma Hamid won the ‘Lawyer of the Year’ award and Maliha Zia Lari was declared the winner in the ‘Outstanding Comeback of the Year’ category. The awards also honored some rising stars in the legal professions.
Member of the National Assembly, lawyer Maleeka Bokhari praised women in the legal profession in a tweet. She called the day of the awards a “historic day”.
A UK diplomat, Iona Thomas, also tweeted about the event.
Winner of the “Lawyer of the Year” category, Asma Hamid shared her “joy” at having attended the first Every Women in Law awards.
