Population Control Bill: UP Law Commission classifies suggestions into 53 categories

The State Law Commission classified the suggestions it received on its draft population control bill into 53 categories that range from allowing a third child to a couple who have two daughters and if one of the two children is physically disabled.

The committee received 8,500 email responses, some criticizing, appreciating and making suggestions to make the law more effective.

“Some have also suggested allowing a third child to couples whose children are physically disabled,” Judge Mittal said.

The committee also received suggestions regarding the imposition of a fine on couples who opt for a third child.

The committee also received suggestions to prohibit persons with three children from standing in legislative and parliamentary elections.
